Scala Cookbook 'Bonus chapters'
When I wrote the Scala Cookbook, I didn’t know that the page count of the book would dramatically grow when the book was converted from MS Word files to PDF files. My editor told me that it was roughly a 1:1 ratio, but it ended up being significantly different, more like a 1.2:1 ratio. As a result, ~140 pages of the book had to be removed to reach the size my O’Reilly editor wanted, about 700 pages.
As a result of this, the chapters that have been removed from the book have been made freely available. You can find the O’Reilly version of the material at the following location. It includes chapters on XML/XPath, Testing, and the Play Framework:
I continued to develop the Play Framework content myself, and I’ve released two updated versions of it at the following URL, in a document I call, Play Framework Recipes:
The Play Framework Recipes PDF will always be more recent than the PDF on the O’Reilly site, so I recommend downloading it if you’re especially interested in working with the Play Framework.
